Shoot-Out information for Team Connecticut
Every year the best of the best compete in a two part race to earn a position on Team Connecticut. This elite team travels north to compete against 12 other states. TEAM CT identifies the top 10 boy and top 10 girl racers in the CISL.
ALL RACERS who are competing for a spot on TEAM CT MUST HAVE a coach or parent present at any event affiliated with TEAM CT
TEAM CT QUALIFICATION PATH
STEP 1: Racer is nominated to the field of 50 to compete in the TEAM CT GS Qualifiers based on CISL standing and/or nomination. Each week the Leaderboard will be published based on the current week's race results. The Leaderboard will include racers from both the Class L and the Class S. After the conclusion of the 3rd race of the season, the racers' top 2 finishes will be averaged. Racers will be ranked based on this average finish score.
*Up to 5 spots within the field will be given based on Coach discretio and Slalom experience. These racers will be ranked based on their slalom points and CISL standings. To be considered "eligible" for Team Connecticut all racers must be affiliated with and race with a school that is considered a member of the CISL and meet the minimum race requirements.
STEP 2: The top 30 finishers (Best 2 of 3 runs) in the GS move onto the 2nd round- Slalom qualifier.
STEP 3: To identify the top finishers for the boys and the girls, the top 2 times from the GS will be combined with a racers top 2 times from Slalom. The top 10 finishers will qualify for Team Connecticut and will compete at Easterns.
TEAM CT QUALIFIERS
Qualifiers will be announced in the early part of the season. There will be one GS race and one Slalom race. They are normally held on the last Monday in January and the first Tuesday in February.
This year's qualifiers will be held on:
ROUND #1 GS- Tuesday, January 27th at 4:40 pm.
ROUND #2 Slalom- Monday, February 2nd at 4:40 pm
NOTE: All skiers racing slalom MUST wear an approved helmet and/or Slalom-specific head/face protection (e.g., basher bar) in addition to ski goggles. There are no exceptions!
QUALIFIER UPDATE: January 22
Based on the current forecast, there is the potential of a weather interruption to next week's qualifiers. If it looks like Tuesday's race cannot be held due to school closures, Round 1 will be held on Monday, February 2n,d and Round 2 on Tuesday, February 3rd.
The Time & Place of the shoot-outs will be announced. There will be one GS race, one SL race. They are normally held on the last Monday in January and the first Monday in February.
GS Shoot-Out: Races will be selected based on their finishes in the completed races of that season. This will be done to help identify those racers skiing at the highest level. Additionally there will be some spots help for coaches to nominate skiers who may excel in slalom. More to come.
Slalom Shoot-Out: The top 30 girls and the top 30 boys in the results of the GS Shoot-Out will qualify for the Slalom to be held on the following Monday. Slalom will also be the 2 of 3 runs.
As stated earlier the top 12 boys and girls are selected to the team.
All skiers racing Slalom MUST wear an approved helmet and/or Slalom specific head/face protection (e.g., basher bar) in addition to ski goggles. There are no exceptions!
